Tom of NSV!| "I know there are people on the far left who have filed complaints against our people over the speeches we give at the end of the demonstration."

🇬🇧 ENGLISH

Ward Van Meensel: Tom, the Flemish and Irish share a special bond, as both peoples have fought for their freedom for centuries and strive for full independence. How do you see that brotherly bond?

Tom: Yes, Flemings and Irish have indeed had more than a millennium of ties, really, from the Flemish settlers in Kilkenny in the 11th century with the wool trade, to even the first Catholic college in Leuven, where many Irish monks fled after the Penal Laws. The... The ties between Flemings and Irish go back a very long way, and even now, still today, we have the same problem with language and migration issues. Not only is migration becoming a problem here and its a very big problem but also in Flanders, we have huge problems with migration, and they’re now seeing the same thing, and in that we have something in common, and we’ll also have to look at the same solutions, namely remigration and language issues: exactly the same thing happened here. We had to speak English here in the days before independence, and just as we had to speak French to get anywhere near the top, they had to speak English.

Ward Van Meensel: A few months ago, the big NSV! remigration demo took place in Leuven. Does the NSV’s activism cause it a lot of legal problems?

Tom: Yes, less so this year, but it only just took place, after all three months in Belgian legal time is like three seconds in the real world, so to speak, with how cases can sometimes drag on for five years. I think it might still be coming, that some case or other gets opened, or something like that. I know there are people on the far left who have filed complaints against our people over... the speeches we give at the end of the demonstration. they are just good-for-nothing. What we also know is that, for example, in Ghent last year there was a complaint from the mayor, because he just had to do something, because he’s such a liberal lapdog for his green-left friends, he filed a complaint against us for racism, and that still hasn’t gone anywhere. I can’t complain about that, but it could still come. In any case, we know that right now we’re probably in the crosshairs of the state, and that we can’t make a single mistake or afford to slip up.
