Yan Mac Oireachtaigh | "You bet your bottom dollar I wanna fight for a future for him."

🇬🇧 ENGLISH

Ward: Yann, you’ve been the leader of the National Party youth wing for some years by now. As a young father, how do you mix your intense activist lifestyle with your family life, and does the birth of your child influence things you do in any way?

Yann: That’s a good question, and a very similar question was asked to me in a previous interview I had with Philip Dwyer there. And a lot of it is simply balance, ensuring that there’s a healthy balance between family life. I try to make sure as much as possible that politics doesn’t seep into family life aggressively, and vice versa.

In regards to having a child, actually, I find... I remember my father told me years ago, he said, oh, you’ll see Yann, one day when you have a son of your own or a child of your own, you won’t be as radical in politics or you won’t have these radical views. Well, actually, I’ve got more radical. And because, quite literally, with mass immigration, with the way the country is gone, you bet your bottom dollar I wanna fight for our race. You bet your bottom dollar that I wanna fight for a future for him.

And I think there’s a lot of parents, especially in Ireland, especially in Dublin that are facing this huge mass immigration crisis that, yeah, they... it’s clicked. And I mentioned in one of the panels and talks that a lot of the women, for example, a lot of mothers, there’s like a flip on the propaganda. Women have been the target of this propaganda by international... international media companies, and and it’s flipping in Ireland. You have now these women are now who are mothers, where they’re saying instead of, oh no, let’s look after all these poor refugees, is hold on a second, let’s look after our children.

And so, yeah, this maybe it’s radicalized me further and not in an aggressive manner or anything, but in just how important our job actually is, and the unique perspective I have as being a youth leader for the last over six years now, and having being a husband, being the head of my family, had bearing a son it’s... I’m blessed.
