Eight years ago, the Dutch press called her “the shieldmaiden“ of the far right. She stood her ground. Today, Eva Vlaardingerbroek fully embraces it, and launches the Save Europe Act, one of the most ambitious projects for the future of our people.

Eva Vlaardingerbroek : Eh bien, quand ils m’ont appelée comme ça pour la première fois — il y a presque huit ans maintenant, je crois — c’était la presse néerlandaise, et c’était très intimidant pour moi. J’étais jeune, je venais juste de commencer. Ce n’était pas quelque chose de cool ou quoi que ce soit — c’était vraiment comme : « Oh, d’accord, je ne vais plus jamais avoir une carrière normale. » Ni un emploi ordinaire, ni pouvoir sortir de chez moi et mener une vie normale. Maintenant, huit ans plus tard, je le revendique. Je trouve ça cool, je pense qu’ils m’ont rendu service.

Kobe: People call you the “Shield Maiden of the far right.” Do you own that label, or is it imposed on you ?
Eva Vlaardingerbroek: Well, when they first called me that — which I think is almost eight years ago now — the Dutch press called me that, it was very intimidating to me. I was young, I had just started out. It wasn’t like a cool thing or anything — it was really like: “Oh, okay, I’m never going to have a normal career ever again.” Or have a regular job, or get out of my house and just lead a normal life. Now, eight years later, I own it. I think it’s cool, I think they did me a favor.

Eva Vlaardingerbroek: Als sie mich zum ersten Mal so genannt haben — ich glaube, das ist jetzt fast acht Jahre her — war es die niederländische Presse, und es war sehr einschüchternd für mich. Ich war jung, ich hatte gerade erst angefangen. Es war nichts Cooles oder so — es war wirklich so: „Oh, okay, ich werde nie wieder eine normale Karriere haben.” Oder einen normalen Job, oder aus meinem Haus gehen und einfach ein normales Leben führen. Jetzt, acht Jahre später, stehe ich dazu. Ich finde es cool, ich glaube, sie haben mir damit einen Gefallen getan.
