Interviewer: Today we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the FPÖ. The FPÖ has already been in government. Now in Germany a historic election is approaching in Saxony-Anhalt. Do you have any advice for your colleagues in Germany?
Petra Steigger: First of all, we’re keeping our fingers crossed. I always say change — if you want to change Europe, it must begin in Germany. And this is a very important first step. So we’re also keeping our lead candidate, Siegmund Ulrich, truly in our thoughts. Both thumbs up. And we wish him not only a resounding victory but also hopefully an absolute majority. I can’t offer much more than: stay true to yourself and carry out the will of the voters. He is close to the people, so I don’t think anything stands in the way.

Interviewer : Nous célébrons aujourd’hui le 70e anniversaire du FPÖ. Le FPÖ a déjà participé au gouvernement. Maintenant, en Allemagne, une élection historique approche en Saxe-Anhalt. Avez-vous des conseils pour vos collègues en Allemagne ?
Petra Steigger : Avant tout, nous croisons les doigts. Je dis toujours que le changement — si l’on veut changer l’Europe, il faut que ça commence en Allemagne. Et c’est une première étape très importante. Nous pensons donc aussi très fort à notre tête de liste, Siegmund Ulrich. On lui souhaite tout le meilleur. Et nous lui souhaitons non seulement une victoire retentissante, mais aussi, avec un peu de chance, une majorité absolue. Je ne peux pas lui offrir grand-chose de plus que : restez fidèle à vous-même et exécutez la volonté des électeurs. Il est proche des gens, donc je ne pense pas que quoi que ce soit se mette en travers de son chemin.
