Maddie : Tom Homan et Mullin sont désormais des noms connus de tous aux États-Unis. Dans votre précédente interview pour Voxeuropa, vous avez qualifié Mullin de bon plombier, mais vous avez dit qu’ils n’ont pas ce qu’il faut pour réparer l’Amérique. Pourquoi ? Et qu’est-ce que cela coûte à l’Amérique ?
Gregory Bovino : Bien sûr, eh bien, Maddie. Quand je parle depuis la position d’un professionnel de la sécurité aux frontières — et j’ai fait ça pendant 30 ans — et que je vois, que je vois qu’on recule par rapport à ce qu’on avait réussi à accomplir, et qu’on doit réapprendre des leçons... Et je parle de New York, euh, New York, New Jersey il y a quelques jours à peine. Pourquoi est-ce qu’on réapprend cette leçon ? On aurait déjà dû l’avoir assimilée. On aurait déjà dû savoir comment gérer quelque chose comme ça. Alors ce sont des gens bien, ça ne fait aucun doute. Mais ont-ils les connaissances, les compétences, l’expérience requises et la capacité à diriger dans une situation comme celle-là, quand on envoie ses, ses officiers ICE sur le terrain pendant 5 jours, avec ce niveau de violence, et apparemment aucun commandement sur le terrain ni aucun soutien ? Ça va soulever des questions. Ça soulève des questions dans l’esprit des Américains, des contribuables, ça soulève aussi des questions dans mon esprit — d’autant plus que j’ai fait ça pendant 30 ans — et j’ai réalisé que des situations comme celle-là ont un correctif très, très simple.

Maddie: Tom Homan and Mullin are household names in the US right now. In your Voxeuropa interview that you did with us before, you called Mullin a good plumber, but you said that they don’t have what it takes to fix America. Why is that? And what does that cost America?
Gregory Bovino: Sure, well, Maddie. When I’m speaking from the position of a border security professional — and I’ve done this for 30 years — and to see, to see us retract back from success, and have to relearn lessons... And I’m talking New York, uh, New York, New Jersey just a couple of days ago. Why are we relearning that lesson? We should already have that lesson under our belt. On how to deal with something like that. So they’re good people, no doubt about it. But do they have that requisite knowledge, skills and experience and ability to lead in a situation like that, when you put your, your ICE officers out there for 5 days, with that kind of violence, and seemingly no leadership on the ground or support? It’s gonna bring questions. It brings questions in the minds of Americans, the taxpayer, it brings, puts questions in my mind also — especially since I did that for 30 years — and realized that situations like that have a very, very easy fix.

Es wirft Fragen in den Köpfen der Amerikaner auf, der Steuerzahler, es wirft auch Fragen in meinem Kopf auf — zumal ich das 30 Jahre lang gemacht habe — und ich habe erkannt, dass Situationen wie diese eine sehr, sehr einfache Lösung haben.
